Setting wallpapers

Unfortunately, when you set an image as your wallpaper, the OS compress the image reducing its quality. In Windows, the quality loss is quite noticeable, but you can avoid this by using GNU/Linux or you can reduce the loss by setting the wallpaper in applications like IrfanView and Firefox.

This quality loss is one reason why I always add a little bit of noise on the gradient of my wallpapers. Another reason is because it is very hard to make plain gradients that don't look choppy on the monitor, it is very easy to see when one color starts and the other ends.
